The formation of a glacier is a process that can take 30 thousand years, in which snow accumulates at a speed greater than the thawing process. Antarctica, with about 90% of the planet's ice, is around 14 million square kilometres, being the largest icy zone on Earth. There are also glaciers in the Arctic, Greenland and Patagonia.
Glaciers have great responsibility for the environmental balance, serving as a survival territory for thousands of species.
This activity comes under the program #cienciavivaathome. From the kitchen to the bathroom, even walking through the garage, no room was left out: after all, science is everywhere!
