Scientists who study the phenomena of the Earth's atmosphere and predict the weather are called meteorologists. Current weather forecasting starts with observations and measurements made on land and sea across the globe, and using satellites orbiting the Earth; actual prediction is done using supercomputers.
But this was not always the case, weather forecasts go back to ancient times when the equipment was not as complex as the current ones.
Rainwater is crucial for plant growth and development, but more than a certain amount of it in a short period of time can cause floods. For this reason, predicting the amount of rain and recording its periodicity has always been very important for people who depended on agriculture for survival, or who lived relatively close to flood zones.
You can become a meteorologist on the balcony by measuring the amount of rain (precipitation) that falls during a given period.

This activity comes under the program #cienciavivaathome. From the kitchen to the bathroom, even walking through the garage, no room was left out: after all, science is everywhere!
